How to install a wireless network PCI card

Today i will demonstrate the installation of a wireless network card on my personal computer. I installed the card a few weeks ago so i will reverse the procedure and install it again so i can take a few pics. I replaced my old wireless USB adapter because its stuck strait out of the back of my computer which made the computer stick out of my desk and i couldn't close the door. Here is a pic of the old and new adapter.

The first thing you need to do is to read the instructions that came with with the card. It will help you determine the order of installation that is needed for that specific card. This card needs the drivers installed before the card is installed in the computer. The drivers will come with the hardware and will usually come on a disk. Put the disk in the computer and the installation of the drivers should prompt automatically. If it doesn't auto-run the program you can go to my computer and the disk should show up in the disk drive location. Then you double left click on the disk and the installation should start. When the installation prompt is up you should read and follow the instruction on the screen. Its best to do the recommended procedures not the custom setup unless you know a lot about computer and are comfortable with manually changing the settings. Once the software installation is complete you need to shut down the computer and disconect power and all the cords to the computer.
The next step is to remove the screws that hold the side cover in place.
Next slide the cover off and expose the inside of the computer.

Next remove the crew that holds the cover for the PCI slot on the outside of the case and remove the cover.
As you can see there were 4 expansion slots on this computer. I have used the PCIE slot for my video card and there are three normal pci slots left over.

Now look inside and find the best slot for the card. Depending on the hardware installed you may need to put the new card in a specific slot but there is a lot of room in this on. I labeled the slots in the next pic.
1. PCI 1
2. PCI 2
3. PCI Express x1
4. PCI express x16 where i have my video card installed

Now we can put the card in the PCI slot. The card can only go in one way. It is important align the card up with the slot and the case before pressing the card into the slot. If it is in correctly the back of the case and the card will be flush on the outside.

Now replace the cover that hold the PCI cards in place and install the outer cover and replace the screws. Now your computer is back together and you are ready to hook all the hardware back up. Once the computer is powered back up it will auto run the rest of the installation of the software. Follow the prompts and installation will complete. Now that the card is in place and software is ready your can connect to your computer to your wireless network.
